President El-Sisi: Egypt Does Not Use the Refugee Issue to Achieve Political Goals
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that Egypt deals with the refugee issue from a purely humanitarian and moral perspective. During his recent remarks, he clarified that the Egyptian state has never attempted to exploit this file to achieve any political gains or exert pressure on the international community, noting that Egypt always opens its doors to everyone.
The President pointed out that Egypt hosts millions of guests of various nationalities who fled conflicts and wars in their countries. These individuals live freely within Egyptian society and receive basic services such as education and healthcare, instead of living in isolated refugee camps as occurs in many other countries.
El-Sisi also stressed the importance of fairly activating the principle of "burden-sharing" among the countries of the world. He explained that hosting these large numbers of guests places significant pressure on the Egyptian economy and available national resources; therefore, the international community must provide real and sustainable support to countries that open their doors to refugees.
In conclusion, the statements affirmed that Egypt will continue to fulfill its humanitarian role toward its neighbors affected by crises. However, the Egyptian government called for the necessity of working to find comprehensive political solutions to conflicts in the region to reduce displacement waves and ensure a safe return and a dignified life for everyone in their homelands.
