Egyptian Drug Authority signs cooperation agreement with Sierra Leone to strengthen the medical sector

The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has signed an important memorandum of understanding with the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone, on the sidelines of the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026. This step comes within the framework of Egypt's ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation with African countries in various medical and pharmaceutical fields.

This memorandum aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and information between the two sides in the areas of pharmaceutical regulation and oversight. Through this cooperation, both parties also seek to develop the pharmaceutical system and ensure the quality and safety of medicines circulated in both countries, which contributes to improving the level of health services provided to citizens.

This agreement is part of Egypt's strategy to open new horizons for cooperation with the African continent, as the Authority seeks to enhance integration between health and pharmaceutical institutions across the continent. This partnership is expected to open new opportunities for the exchange of technical knowledge and to facilitate the procedures for the registration and distribution of medicines between Egypt and Sierra Leone.

At the conclusion of the events, officials emphasized that this cooperation represents a positive step toward achieving pharmaceutical self-sufficiency on the African continent. The Egyptian Drug Authority continues to work on building bridges of communication with international partners to ensure the provision of safe, effective, and high-quality medicine for all patients.
