Egypt Strengthens Pharmaceutical Cooperation with Sierra Leone and Issues New Updates to the Drug Registry
The fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon witnessed the signing of a significant cooperation agreement between the Egyptian Drug Authority and the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical regulation and manufacturing between the two countries, opening new horizons for joint action on the African continent.
This step comes as part of Egypt's continuous efforts to strengthen its relations with African countries in the health sector. The signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will allow for the exchange of expertise and technical training, helping to ensure the quality and safety of medicines in the markets and supporting Egypt's position as a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical industries.
In a related context, the Egyptian Drug Authority announced the issuance of a new part of the Egyptian Drug Registry for the year 2026. This update focuses specifically on medications used to treat Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), reflecting the state's commitment to providing the latest treatments and developing the pharmaceutical database to keep pace with international standards.
These developments reflect the significant efforts made by the Egyptian government to develop the health system and secure the pharmaceutical needs of its citizens. These initiatives are expected to contribute to improving the level of medical care in Egypt while enhancing the Egyptian role in supporting health systems in neighboring African countries.
