Tourism Boom in Egypt: New Archaeological Discoveries and Expansions in Ports and Museums
Egypt is currently witnessing extensive movements to boost the tourism sector, as global travel leaders prepare to meet in Egypt to discuss the recovery of this vital sector. This meeting serves as a platform to coordinate efforts between the public and private sectors, aiming to address the ongoing pressures on global travel and ensure the continued flow of tourists to various Egyptian destinations.
Within the framework of developing tourism infrastructure, AD Ports Group announced a significant expansion of its operations in Egypt. These expansions will include launching new cruise services through three main terminals in the cities of Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Safaga. This step is expected to contribute to attracting more visitors via the Red Sea and revitalizing beach and leisure tourism.
Regarding the Grand Egyptian Museum, official reports clarified current ticket prices before any potential increase, with adult tickets for Egyptians costing 200 EGP, while for foreigners, they reach 1,590 EGP. Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities responded to reports about rainwater leaking inside the museum, confirming that the architectural design of the main lobby naturally allows for this and that there is no danger to the artifacts.
On the level of historical discoveries, archaeological missions have succeeded in finding a rare Roman tomb containing mummies with golden tongues. This new discovery adds significant historical value to Egyptian archaeological sites and enhances Egypt's appeal as a top destination for lovers of antiquities and history from around the world.
Regarding travel procedures, Egyptian authorities have increased transit fees at the Taba border crossing. For its part, the U.S. Department of State has maintained Egypt's travel advisory at Level 2, which means "Exercise Increased Caution." This classification calls for travelers to maintain normal vigilance but does not prohibit travel, confirming the stability of the tourism situation in the country.
Finally, cultural and sporting activities in Egypt are diversifying to include new global initiatives, such as the cycling event launched under the slogan "From the Pyramid to the Haram." This event aims to link ancient Egyptian history with spirituality, highlighting Egypt's image as an integrated tourist destination that combines a rich past with contemporary activity.
