Sisi: Egypt Welcomes Refugees and Does Not Use Their Cause to Achieve Political Goals
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized that Egypt approaches the refugee issue from a humanitarian and moral perspective. During his recent remarks, he clarified that the Egyptian state has never used this file to pressure the international community or to achieve any specific political gains; rather, it considers them honored guests on its land.
President el-Sisi stressed the importance of activating the principle of "burden-sharing" among the countries of the world. He pointed out that hosting millions of refugees places significant pressure on state resources and public services; therefore, international organizations must provide adequate support to host countries to ensure the continued provision of necessary care.
Egypt is currently home to millions of people who have fled conflicts and wars in neighboring countries and the Arab region. Egyptian policy is characterized by integrating these guests into society, where they live freely among Egyptian citizens and benefit from available health and educational services, rather than living in isolated camps.
In conclusion, the President affirmed that Egypt will continue to fulfill its humanitarian role toward those fleeing wars and conflicts. However, there remains an urgent need for genuine international cooperation to confront increasing economic challenges and ensure a decent life for everyone who has sought refuge in Egypt in search of safety and security.
