Egyptian Drug Authority reviews strategy for developing the medical sector until 2030

The Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority participated in the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon 2026, where he outlined the features of the new national strategy for developing the pharmaceutical sector in Egypt over the coming years.

This ambitious strategy relies on five main pillars aimed at strengthening Egypt's position as a regional hub for pharmaceutical industries. These plans fall within the framework of Egypt's Vision 2030, which seeks to improve the quality of health services and provide medicines to citizens according to the highest international quality standards.

The Chairman of the Authority noted that the Egyptian pharmaceutical market is growing significantly, with its current value reaching approximately 8.5 billion US dollars. The Authority is working to support investments in this field and facilitate drug registration procedures, which contributes to attracting more international and local companies to operate within the Egyptian market.

Officials also emphasized during the conference the importance of cooperation with African countries to exchange expertise and localize the vaccine and vital medicine industry. This step is part of the state's efforts to reduce reliance on imports and save foreign currency by increasing Egyptian pharmaceutical exports abroad.

The Authority concludes its efforts by emphasizing its ongoing commitment to developing pharmaceutical oversight and ensuring the availability of essential medicines in pharmacies and hospitals. This strategy is considered an important step toward enhancing pharmaceutical security in Egypt and supporting the national economy in the medical sector.
