Finland and Sweden strengthen their defense cooperation
The Finnish Defence Forces have decided to deepen their cooperation with Sweden. The goal is to improve the security of both countries and strengthen their territorial integrity. Cooperation between the two countries has been close for a long time, but it is now being further developed in the changed security environment.
At the center of this cooperation is, in particular, surveillance and defense readiness. Finland and Sweden share information about activities occurring near their borders, which helps both countries react more quickly to potential changes. A shared situational awareness is an important part of Nordic defense.
The Finnish and Swedish defense forces will train together even more in the future. The exercises help soldiers work together smoothly and improve communication between the countries. This development is a natural continuation of the countries' NATO memberships, which are integrating Nordic defense even more closely.
Strengthening defense cooperation is an important step for the stability of the entire Baltic Sea region. Finnish and Swedish authorities emphasize that this cooperation increases security and creates stability throughout the Nordic region. Joint actions are part of a broader effort to secure the peace and independence of the region in the future.
