Finns took fewer domestic trips in June than a year ago
According to fresh statistics, the travel behavior of Finns has changed since last year. In June 2026, Finns took a total of approximately 1.7 million domestic leisure trips that included free accommodation.
The figure has clearly decreased compared to the previous year. Nearly ten percent fewer trips were taken than in June 2025. The statistics indicate that the popularity of domestic tourism has experienced a slight dip during the early summer.
Domestic tourism has traditionally been popular among Finns, and many spend their summer holidays at cottages or visiting relatives, for example. This year, however, the number of travelers remained lower than before.
Experts are now closely monitoring whether this downward trend will continue throughout the summer. It is not yet certain whether the decrease in travel was influenced by factors such as weather conditions, economic factors, or other changes in people's holiday plans.
