Finland plans to introduce a tourist tax
The Finnish government is currently preparing a new legislative proposal aimed at introducing a tourist tax. The purpose of the reform is to generate additional revenue for the development and maintenance of tourism in our country.
The preparation of the project has reached a stage where authorities are requesting opinions on the matter from citizens and various stakeholders. This consultation process is an important part of the legislative preparation so that potential impacts can be carefully assessed before final decisions are made.
The deadline for submitting comments related to the proposal has been set for August 31, 2026. This provides sufficient time for discussion and for considering different perspectives before the bill proceeds to Parliament for consideration.
Once the comment period ends, the government will finalize the proposal and submit it to Parliament. If the law is passed, it will significantly change the operating environment for the tourism industry in Finland in the coming years.
