Germany views Finland as a model for European defense
Johann Wadephul, a representative of the German Foreign Office, has highlighted Finland as an example for other European countries. According to Wadephul, Finland serves as a model for how a state can build strong defense and societal resilience in the security environment created by Russia.
The statements were made on Wednesday as the discussion regarding the European security situation continues to be active. Wadephul specifically emphasized the Finnish will to defend the country and the ability to prepare for various crises. According to him, Finland's experiences and practices offer valuable information to other European states.
Finland's role as a NATO member has strengthened the country's position as part of the Western defense alliance. International media has taken note of how Finland has managed to maintain stability and a high will to defend the country even in a changed global political situation.
Relations between Germany and Finland have intensified further in recent years. Cooperation between the countries in the defense sector has grown, and the recognition given by Germany shows that Finland's policy is widely appreciated in Europe.
Finland continues to invest in its own defense and international cooperation. Wadephul's assessment reinforces the perception that Finland's long-term work for security is now seen as an international success story.
