Autumn holidays begin in schools across Finland
The autumn holiday season for schools has begun in Finland. Students and teachers across the country are taking a week-long break to rest after the first school period. The holidays take place during different weeks depending on the municipality of residence.
In most parts of Finland, the autumn holiday is celebrated during October. For example, in the capital region and many other large cities, the holiday falls in the middle of October. Staggered holiday times for schools help to avoid congestion at tourist destinations and in traffic.
Many families use the autumn holiday for traveling or outdoor activities. Finnish nature is colorful in October, and many head to cottages or hiking areas to enjoy the crisp autumn air. Ski resorts and spas are also preparing to welcome holidaymakers.
The autumn holiday provides students with an important opportunity to recover from their studies before the long autumn term. Schoolwork will continue once the holiday ends, with the period leading up to the Christmas break ahead. Daily school life will return to normal as students head back to the classrooms feeling refreshed.
