A quieter summer for Finnish tourism – tourists still spent one billion euros
Finland experienced a slightly quieter tourism season this summer. According to statistics, the number of foreign tourists was lower during the June–August period compared to previous years.
Although the number of travelers decreased, visitors spent a significant amount of money during their stay in Finland. According to data from Statistics Finland, tourists spent a total of one billion euros on Finnish services and products during the summer months.
The majority of tourists who arrived in Finland came from nearby regions. The highest number of visitors arrived from Germany, Sweden, and Estonia. These countries have traditionally been Finland's most important source markets for tourism.
On average, foreign tourists stayed in Finland for four nights. Even though the total number of travelers was in decline, the tourism industry remains an important part of the Finnish economy, as it brings significant income to various parts of the country.
Tourism experts are now closely monitoring how the situation develops during the autumn. Although the summer was quieter, Finland continues to strive to attract international guests throughout the year.
