Yle News in plain Finnish helps you understand current topics
Yle News in plain Finnish offers Finns and Finnish language learners important information in easy-to-understand language. The goal of the service is to make news accessible to everyone, even if Finnish is not the reader's native language or if reading is otherwise challenging.
Using plain Finnish in the news means that sentences are short and clear in structure. Difficult words are avoided or explained within the text. This helps the reader follow the most important events of the day in Finland and around the world without the language becoming a barrier.
The service is particularly useful for those who want to improve their language skills while staying up to date on social issues. The news covers a wide range of topics, including politics, the economy, culture, and other subjects that affect the everyday lives of Finns.
Yle News in plain Finnish is available in both text and video formats. This versatility supports learning, as the reader can both read and listen to the news simultaneously. It is an important tool for anyone who wants to strengthen their Finnish language skills and their understanding of Finnish society.
