Finland's Eurovision representative sought again – UMK submissions open in August
Finland's biggest music competition, the Contest for New Music (UMK), is preparing for another season. Submissions for the 2027 representative will open in August. In recent years, UMK has become a significant platform for Finnish music and a springboard to international arenas.
The competition has established its place in Finnish culture, and its finalists regularly climb to the top of domestic streaming services. UMK is not just a Eurovision qualifier; it also serves as an important showcase for both new and experienced Finnish artists.
In recent years, the standard of UMK has risen significantly, and the competition has garnered widespread attention beyond Finland's borders as well. Many previous finalists have achieved great popularity and built successful careers with the visibility gained from the competition.
Interested artists and songwriters can prepare for the submission period, which begins during August. The competition is open to both solo artists and bands who want to represent Finland in Eurovision and reach new audiences across Europe.
We look forward to seeing who will become the Finnish favorite next year and represent our country on the international stage. Further information on the application process and competition rules will be published on Yle's channels during August.
