New NATO technology and innovation center opened in Finland
A significant celebration was held in Espoo on January 22, 2026, as a new NATO accelerator center was opened in Finland. This center is part of NATO's broader effort to promote technological development in the defense sector among member countries.
Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen emphasized the great importance of the center for Finland at the opening ceremony. According to Häkkänen, the new office effectively combines high technology, national defense, and economic growth. The goal is to create new innovations that strengthen the security of both Finland and the entire defense alliance.
The center serves as a platform where companies, researchers, and defense experts can collaborate closely. This enables the development of new solutions more quickly and efficiently. Finland's strong expertise in the technology sector makes the country an excellent location for such international operations.
The opening of the NATO accelerator center in Espoo is one concrete step regarding the opportunities brought by Finland's NATO membership. It strengthens Finland's role as part of Western defense cooperation and offers Finnish actors new opportunities in international markets.
