Young designer Viola Rautaheimo wins inclusivity competition at Flow Festival
At Helsinki's Flow Festival, new ways have been sought to make the festival experience more accessible and equitable for all visitors. To this end, the Inclusive Design Competition was organized, where young designers were invited to present their own ideas for improving inclusivity.
Viola Rautaheimo was chosen as the winner of the competition. According to the jury, her work offered fresh and practical perspectives on how a large public event can better accommodate different people. In practice, inclusive design means that environments and services are designed so that everyone can participate in them without barriers and on an equal basis.
Flow Festival is known not only for its music but also for its commitment to urban culture and sustainable solutions. Through the competition, the festival wanted to encourage young talent to consider how the accessibility of events can be developed in the future. The winner's proposals may help the festival make practical changes that improve the comfort of all visitors.
Viola Rautaheimo's victory demonstrates that young designers play a significant role in the development of social events. Inclusivity is an important theme that is increasingly taking center stage in the planning of major public events in Finland.
