Finland rising as a hub for data centers – ten billion euros in investments expected
The Finnish data center market is currently growing very rapidly. According to industry experts, the annual market growth is approximately 54 percent, making Finland one of the most attractive destinations in the Nordic countries for major technology sector investments.
By 2026, a total of three gigawatts of new data center capacity is expected to be built in Finland. This massive growth represents approximately ten billion euros in investments, which will strengthen Finland's role in international digital infrastructure.
Several factors are driving these investments, such as Finland's stable operating environment and the availability of green energy. The electricity tax reform has also played a key role, as it has made maintaining large data centers more economically viable than before.
The growing data center industry is creating new jobs in Finland and strengthening the country's technological expertise. Although the investments bring challenges, such as managing the load on the electricity grid, they are seen as a significant opportunity for the entire Finnish economy in the coming years.
