Real estate maintenance costs rose in the first half of the year
The maintenance costs of Finnish real estate have turned upward. According to fresh data from Statistics Finland, costs rose by 3.3 percent in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period the previous year.
The rise in costs means that maintaining properties, such as heating, water, waste management, and cleaning, has become more expensive. This development directly affects the daily lives of many Finns, as the increase in maintenance costs is often reflected in housing costs and maintenance fees.
According to experts, the rise in costs is influenced by several different factors, such as fluctuations in energy prices and the general rise in the cost level in society. Property owners and housing companies are now having to re-examine their budgets as property maintenance requires more money than before.
The situation is particularly challenging for housing companies, which must cover the increased expenses. For residents, this may mean higher housing costs in the future as companies are forced to raise maintenance fees to cover the increased expenditures.
It is important to monitor whether the rise in costs continues during the remainder of the year. At the moment, property managers are looking for ways to streamline their operations so that the price of housing remains as stable as possible in a changing economic situation.
