Israeli teenagers charged with spying for Iran
Israeli authorities have filed charges against two teenagers who acted as spies for the Iranian intelligence service. The suspects are 14 and 16 years old and are believed to have carried out several paid assignments for a foreign power.
According to the investigation, the youths received instructions from an Iranian intelligence agent. Their tasks included, among other things, collecting various information and other espionage-related activities. Authorities have expressed concern over how easily young people can be exploited in international espionage operations.
The case has sparked a widespread discussion about security and how foreign states attempt to recruit people through social media or other digital channels. The Israeli police and security service are continuing their investigation into the case to determine the extent of the network involved.
Although the incident took place far from Finland, it serves as a reminder of the importance of digital security for Finns as well. International intelligence agencies are currently active online, and authorities emphasize the importance of critical media literacy, especially among young people.
