Finland and Sweden strengthen defense cooperation in rocket artillery
Finland and Sweden have decided to launch a new form of defense cooperation, focusing specifically on the development of rocket artillery. According to the countries' ministries of defense, the goal is to improve the capabilities of both nations and strengthen Nordic security in a changing geopolitical landscape.
In practice, the cooperation means that the countries will share information, expertise, and technical solutions regarding the use of rocket systems. This is a natural continuation of the intensified cooperation between the countries that began in earnest when Finland and Sweden joined NATO. Joint procurement and training will help the countries operate seamlessly together in potential crisis situations.
Rocket artillery is a vital component of defense in modern warfare, as it enables precise strikes over long distances. Through this cooperation, the countries also aim to streamline their defense procurement, which saves resources and accelerates the acquisition of equipment. According to defense experts, the collaboration between the countries makes the defense of the Baltic Sea region significantly stronger.
The Finnish and Swedish defense forces have already collaborated in areas such as naval and air operations. This new step in rocket artillery further deepens the trust and military integration between the countries. The precise details and schedules of the cooperation will be refined over the coming months as experts from both countries begin the actual planning work.
