Finnish government provides significant support for carbon capture
The Finnish government has granted a total of 26.6 million euros in funding to projects aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The funding is part of a broader effort to promote environmentally friendly technology and achieve Finland's climate goals.
The majority of the support, 21 million euros, was awarded to Metsä Fibre Oy. The company will use the funding to build a new facility at its Rauma pulp mill. The facility's task is to capture carbon dioxide from the mill's flue gases.
Carbon capture is a technology used to prevent emissions from entering the atmosphere. The captured carbon dioxide can be stored or used as a raw material in other industrial processes. This project is an important step toward industrial carbon neutrality.
The investment supports Finland's goal of being carbon neutral by 2035. The support granted by the government helps companies develop new innovations that may also help other industries reduce their environmental impact in the future.
