Vantaa's new smoke saunas vie for prestigious architecture award
The new public smoke saunas located at Kuusijärvi in Vantaa have received significant recognition. The buildings have been selected as nominees for the prestigious Finlandia Prize for Architecture.
Kuusijärvi's smoke saunas have attracted attention, particularly due to their modern and nature-oriented design. The jury evaluates candidates based on how well the buildings fit into their surroundings and how they promote Finnish sauna culture.
The competition is part of a broader effort to highlight Finnish architecture. Among the candidates are several different building projects from across Finland, but the Vantaa sauna project has emerged as one of the public's favorites.
The final winner will be announced on October 5th. This year, the recipient of the award will be chosen by a renowned expert who will evaluate the quality of the candidates and their significance to Finnish society.
Kuusijärvi is already a popular outdoor destination, and the new saunas further strengthen the area's status among Vantaa residents and other visitors. The nomination is proof that public spaces can be both practical and architecturally high-quality.
