Intense fighting and humanitarian crisis continue in Gaza
The war in Gaza has been ongoing since October 2023, and the situation in the region remains extremely grave. According to the latest reports, strikes carried out by Israel have targeted areas including hospital grounds, which the Israeli military states it has used to reach Hamas commanders.
According to health authorities operating in Gaza, the death toll of the conflict has risen to an extremely high level. Since October 2023, more than 73,000 Palestinians are reported to have been killed as a result of military operations. In addition, the number of wounded has risen to over 174,000 people.
The international community has been following the situation with concern. Strikes on hospitals have drawn widespread criticism, as they further complicate the ability of civilians to receive essential medical aid. The situation has led to a massive humanitarian emergency, where shortages of food, water, and medicine are an everyday reality.
Finland and other European countries are monitoring the development of the situation closely. Although the war is far from Finland, the situation in the Middle East affects global political stability and has also sparked discussion within Finnish society. Peace negotiations are still ongoing, but a solution to end the conflict has not yet been found.
