Espoo to introduce a stormwater fee this autumn
The City of Espoo has decided to introduce a new stormwater fee. The fee will come into effect during the autumn and will apply to property owners across the city.
Stormwater refers to rainwater and snowmelt that flows from surfaces such as roofs and paved yards. According to the city, managing stormwater is important to ensure that the water does not cause flooding or damage in the urban environment.
The collected fees will be used to fund the maintenance and construction of stormwater systems. These systems include, among other things, drains, ditches, and other structures that safely divert water away from residential areas.
The City of Espoo will provide more detailed information on the matter to property owners in the near future. Residents are encouraged to follow the city's official channels to receive further information on how the fee affects their own property and when the first invoices will arrive.
