New report: Finnish healthcare is high-quality, but there are challenges in accessing care
According to a recent EU report, the health status of Finns is better than the EU average by many measures. The Finnish healthcare system is considered comprehensive and high-quality, offering citizens a wide range of services.
However, a study conducted by the OECD and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies highlights significant shortcomings. Although the services exist, access to care is not equal in Finland. This means that not all citizens receive the help they need equally quickly or easily.
According to the report, challenges are caused in particular by long queues and regional differences in the availability of services. Patients' experiences of receiving care vary depending on where they live in the country and what kind of services they need.
Experts emphasize that the strengths of the system must be nurtured, but at the same time, ways must be found to shorten care queues. The goal is for every Finn to receive high-quality care at the right time, regardless of their place of residence.
