Pope Leo XIV on an official visit to France in 2026
The Vatican has officially announced that an apostolic visit by Pope Leo XIV will take place in France. This highly anticipated trip will occur from September 25 to 28, 2026.
The sovereign pontiff, who took office on May 8, 2025, under the name Leo XIV, will be visiting France for the first time since the beginning of his pontificate. This visit is a major event for French Catholic believers.
The detailed program for these four days of travel has not yet been released by religious authorities. However, this visit is expected to allow the Pope to meet with representatives of the Church in France as well as the country's civil authorities.
French authorities and Vatican services are currently working in close collaboration to organize this event. Details regarding the places of worship to be visited and public meetings will be unveiled in the coming months.
This trip is part of the Pope's desire to strengthen ties with Catholic communities around the world. Logistical and security preparations have already begun to welcome the head of the Catholic Church under the best possible conditions.
