Heatwave in Paris: Eiffel Tower and Museums Close Earlier to Protect Visitors
France is currently experiencing a period of intense heat. In Paris, several famous monuments have decided to modify their opening hours to cope with this heatwave. The Eiffel Tower and some of the capital's major museums are closing their doors earlier than usual this weekend.
The management of the Eiffel Tower officially announced that the monument would close at 4:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Usually, the "Iron Lady" remains open much later during the summer season. This exceptional measure was taken to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors, as well as the employees working on-site in the face of extreme temperatures.
The Eiffel Tower is not the only tourist site affected by these changes. Several Parisian museums have also chosen to reduce their visiting hours. Authorities fear that the heat in certain old buildings, which are sometimes difficult to cool down, could become unbearable for the public. Tourists are therefore strongly advised to check opening hours on official websites before traveling.
Météo-France has placed many departments on orange alert due to this persistent heatwave. Temperatures regularly exceed 35 degrees in the capital and several other regions of the country. The government is asking the population to remain cautious, drink water regularly, and avoid significant physical exertion during the hottest hours of the day.
These temporary closures illustrate how major cities and tourist sites must now adapt to climate change. Activities are expected to return to their normal pace as soon as temperatures begin to drop. In the meantime, green spaces and air-conditioned areas remain the most sought-after places for Parisians and passing visitors.
