G7 Summit: Strengthened support for Ukraine
At the recent G7 summit held in Évian, the leaders of the seven most industrialized countries displayed total unity regarding the situation in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky received guarantees of support from his Western allies in the face of the ongoing conflict.
At the heart of the discussions, G7 members reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strong economic pressure on Russia. New sanctions were discussed in order to weaken Moscow's financing capabilities, while ensuring constant financial and military aid for Kyiv.
The European Union and Canada are playing a leading role in this strategy. Both partners confirmed that they would continue their diplomatic and logistical efforts to support the Ukrainian economy and strengthen the country's defense capabilities over the long term.
This summit marks an important step in international coordination. As the conflict drags on, the leaders present in Évian insisted on the importance of remaining united to face the security and humanitarian challenges affecting Europe and the rest of the world.
