Quantum computing: France must accelerate its investments

The Court of Audit recently published a report on the French strategy regarding quantum computing. Although the state has already released an additional envelope of one billion euros to support this technology sector, experts believe that this financial effort remains insufficient to remain competitive on a global scale.

The report highlights that France possesses excellent scientific research in this field. However, moving from theory to industrial production requires much greater financial resources. According to the Court of Audit, public funding cannot carry everything alone and the country must imperatively attract more private capital.

Quantum computing represents a major strategic challenge for the future. This technology promises to solve complex problems much faster than current computers, which could transform sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity, or finance. For France, the goal is not to depend on foreign technologies and to build its own digital sovereignty.

Faced with international competition, particularly from the United States and China, France must therefore revise its strategy. The Court of Audit recommends creating a more favorable environment for private companies in order to encourage investment. The challenge is to transform French academic excellence into a true industrial force capable of dominating the market of tomorrow.
