Orange and Telesat launch new space technology in France
The French operator Orange and the Canadian company Telesat officially inaugurated the first European ground station dedicated to the "Telesat Lightspeed" network this week. This technological facility, located in France, marks an important milestone in the development of high-speed satellite internet on the continent.
The Lightspeed network is a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites. Unlike traditional satellites, these devices are much closer to Earth, which allows for a significant reduction in latency. This technology is designed to offer very fast internet connectivity, comparable to fiber optics, even in the most isolated or difficult-to-access areas.
For France, this project represents a strategic breakthrough in the space telecommunications sector. The inaugurated station will serve as an essential connection point to link the satellites to Orange's terrestrial network. This infrastructure will help improve connectivity for businesses and public services that require a stable and secure connection at all times.
This partnership between Orange and Telesat underscores the importance of international cooperation in the space sector. As global demand for high-performance internet connectivity continues to rise, this new French infrastructure is positioning itself as a major pillar for future digital coverage in Europe.
