Wildfires in the Landes: situation improves after 1,580 hectares burned
A major forest fire has broken out in the Landes department, located in southwestern France. This Saturday, August 15, the flames spread rapidly overnight, destroying a total of 1,580 hectares of vegetation.
Local authorities and emergency services were mobilized immediately to fight the blaze. The spread of the fire was fueled by difficult weather conditions, making the firefighters' work on the ground particularly complex.
However, the latest information indicates an improvement in the situation. Thanks to the constant efforts of the teams on site, the spread of the flames has been slowed and general conditions now seem more favorable for bringing the fire under control.
Authorities continue to monitor the area closely to avoid any risk of the fire reigniting. Residents are urged to remain cautious and to follow the safety instructions issued by the prefecture until the operation is completely over.
