Agricultural law, social media & wildfires: the update
Parliament has definitively adopted the emergency agricultural law. This text modifies the rules concerning water storage, the use of pesticides, and livestock farming standards, aiming to strengthen the country's food sovereignty.
Furthermore, a new law now prohibits access to social media for minors under the age of 15. Platforms will be required to implement an age verification system to comply with this measure, which was voted on July 22.
On the wildfire front, the situation remains critical in the Var, where a fire has already scorched 1,700 hectares. Authorities have banned nautical activities on Lake Sainte-Croix in Bauduen to allow Canadair (water bomber) aircraft to operate. The national toll reports 12,500 fire outbreaks since the start of the season and two firefighters who died during an intervention near Bordeaux.
