G7: Strengthened support for Ukraine in the face of the conflict
At the recent G7 summit held in Évian, the leaders of the seven major world powers reaffirmed their total unity in support of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was able to count on a firm commitment from his allies to continue the political, financial, and military support necessary for his country.
Discussions mainly focused on strengthening economic sanctions against Russia. The stated goal of the G7 members is to further limit Russia's ability to finance the war effort, while maintaining constant diplomatic pressure on Moscow.
At the same time, the European Union and Canada announced the continuation of their humanitarian and technical aid programs. These measures aim to support the Ukrainian population and prepare for the reconstruction of essential infrastructure that has been severely damaged by the fighting since the beginning of the conflict.
This meeting in Évian highlights the desire of Western countries to maintain a united front in the face of the international crisis. While the displayed unity is strong, the question of the duration of this commitment remains at the heart of political observers' concerns, as the conflict continues over time.
