Perpignan: Former municipal official removed after revelation of Nazi tattoo
The city of Perpignan finds itself at the heart of a political controversy. Charles Ifssah-Becuwe, a former municipal councilor and member of the National Rally (RN) majority led by Mayor Louis Aliot, has been removed from his duties following the discovery of a Nazi-themed tattoo on his body.
This affair erupted after the broadcast of images showing the former official with a symbol linked to Nazi ideology. The Perpignan city hall reacted quickly, confirming that this individual was no longer part of the municipal team for the current term. Local authorities were keen to draw a clear line between themselves and these actions.
The National Rally, the party to which the official belonged, also distanced itself from the situation. The presence of such symbols on a public representative is deemed incompatible with the values of the French Republic. This case raises questions about the candidate selection process during local elections.
For the time being, no legal proceedings have been announced against the former councilor. However, this event serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance regarding the backgrounds and convictions of the officials who represent citizens within French institutions.
