Cybersecurity: the growing threat of data leaks in France
Digital security has become a major concern for the French people. Recently, several incidents have served as a reminder that public administrations, just like private companies, are not immune to cyberattacks. Every day, thousands of pieces of personal data are exposed on the Internet, jeopardizing the privacy of citizens.
Cybersecurity experts are noting a constant increase in the number of leaks. These incidents often involve sensitive information, such as email addresses, phone numbers, or even banking data. This information is then resold on the "dark web" by hacker groups looking to make illegal profits.
Faced with this situation, French authorities are strengthening their protection measures. The National Cybersecurity Agency of France (ANSSI) is increasing its recommendations for both businesses and individuals. It is advised to use complex passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and remain vigilant against suspicious messages.
Data protection is now a societal issue that goes beyond the technical framework. Citizens are encouraged to regularly check whether their accounts have been compromised via specialized platforms. Awareness remains, to this day, the best defense for limiting the risks associated with this rapidly expanding digital crime.
