Heritage Days 2026: an exceptional weekend to discover French architecture
History and architecture enthusiasts can already mark the date in their calendars. The traditional Heritage Days will make their grand return on the weekend of September 19 and 20, 2026, throughout France, with a particular focus on Paris and the Île-de-France region.
This annual event is a unique opportunity for the general public to visit places usually closed to visitors. From ministries to private mansions, and even rehabilitated industrial sites, the curious will be able to explore the richness of French architectural heritage. The goal is to make culture accessible to everyone and to highlight the expertise of builders from yesterday and today.
In Paris, many iconic monuments will open their doors for free. Visitors will be able to discover the behind-the-scenes of historic buildings, admire rare interior decorations, and participate in guided tours organized by experts. The Île-de-France region will also offer a varied program, including castles, remarkable gardens, and religious buildings that are often little-known.
To make the most of this weekend, it is advisable to consult the official program online a few weeks before the event. Some visits, due to their popularity, require prior reservation. These Heritage Days remain, more than ever, an unmissable event to better understand the cultural identity of France.
