Heat record: France faces exceptional temperatures
France is currently going through an intense heat episode that is leaving a lasting impression. According to Météo-France, the night from Monday to Tuesday was the hottest ever recorded in the country since official records began in 1947. This phenomenon highlights the rise in average temperatures observed across the country in recent years.
The situation is concerning, as more than half of French departments are now under special alert due to these extreme weather conditions. Authorities are calling on the population to be cautious, especially the most vulnerable, such as children and the elderly, in the face of this major health risk.
Forecasts for the coming days indicate that the mercury is not expected to drop immediately. Meteorological experts warn that this period of intense heat could persist, making nights particularly difficult to endure for residents of urban areas, where heat remains trapped in the concrete.
Faced with this climatic event, emergency services and hospitals are on high alert to respond to the potential needs of the population. It is advised to limit physical activities outdoors during the day, to stay hydrated, and to keep homes as cool as possible.
This episode serves as a reminder of the importance of following the official recommendations issued by prefectures and meteorological services. Vigilance remains the order of the day across the entire French territory as the country faces this unprecedented climate challenge.
