G7: Strengthened and unanimous support for Ukraine
During the recent G7 meeting held in Évian, the leaders of the seven most industrialized countries displayed total unity regarding the situation in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky received firm assurances from his Western allies in the face of the Russian invasion.
At the heart of the discussions, G7 members reaffirmed their willingness to maintain, and even strengthen, economic sanctions against Russia. This strategy aims to limit the Kremlin's financial capabilities while further isolating the country on the international stage.
Alongside these restrictive measures, concrete aid was promised to Kyiv. The European Union and Canada, in particular, emphasized their commitment to continuing their financial and military efforts to support the Ukrainian resistance in the long term.
This meeting in Évian demonstrates the determination of the major Western powers to remain united. Despite the logistical and economic challenges, the leaders present insisted on the importance of maintaining this common front to ensure the stability of the region.
