Holiday departures: a very difficult day on French roads
This Saturday, French motorists faced particularly complicated traffic conditions. In the middle of the holiday departure period, road traffic was very heavy across the entire country.
According to data published by Bison Futé, the official traffic monitoring agency, a peak of 708 kilometers of traffic jams was recorded around noon. This accumulation of vehicles significantly slowed down travel, particularly on the major routes connecting the north to the south of the country.
This situation is typical during periods of major summer departures. Vacationers looking to reach coastal areas or mountainous regions found themselves stuck on main highways, turning their journeys into long tests of patience.
Authorities recommend that travelers prepare their trips well by regularly checking traffic forecasts. It is advised, whenever possible, to avoid peak hours and to favor weekday departures to limit the risk of traffic jams.
