Arrest of a man in Germany on charges of shooting an Iranian dissident in the Netherlands
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Dortmund, Germany, in connection with the shooting of an Iranian-origin man in Schoonhoven, Zuid-Holland (South Holland) last Thursday morning.
The victim, who worked for the Dutch police, was shot around 7am in the street and suffered serious injuries. Authorities have not released any updates بشأن حالته الصحية (about his current condition).
Police confirmed that the suspect remains in Germany while legal procedures for extradition to Nederland (the Netherlands) are underway. Officials are coordinating efforts to transfer him for further investigation and prosecution.
Investigators revealed that the firearm used in the attack was recovered on the same day from a nearby waterway. In addition, the suspected getaway vehicle, a Toyota Yaris, has been seized. Detectives believe the car may have been present in the Schoonhoven area in the days leading up to the incident.
According to police, the investigation quickly led to identifying the suspect, described as having no fixed address, with indications he had fled to Germany. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and determine the full sequence of events.
Earlier, Justice Minister ديفيد فان ويل stated that the possibility of Iranian involvement cannot be ruled out. He emphasized that the victim’s Iranian background and his criticism of the regime must be taken seriously as part of the ongoing investigation.
