Racism is almost a daily reality for Muslims
Anti-Muslim racism remains a harsh reality in Germany, affecting the daily lives of many Muslims across the country. Despite progress in some areas, discrimination and prejudice continue to shape the experiences of countless young people.
Hashemi, who regularly visits schools as part of his work, speaks directly with students about their struggles and personal experiences. According to him, anti-Muslim racism in Germany is far from rare and continues to impact many communities.
Even so, Hashemi remains hopeful about the future. He believes the younger generation is growing up in a more connected environment, where children from different cultures, backgrounds, and communities are learning and building relationships together.
He explained that despite their differences, many young people share common goals, especially when it comes to education and building better futures. Their determination to complete school and succeed creates a powerful sense of unity among them.
Hashemi also said many teenagers from immigrant families see him as a role model. They relate to his journey as someone with a migrant background who grew up in a socially disadvantaged neighborhood but still managed to reach influential spaces and succeed in ways many thought were impossible.
