To Spain by Bike: A Family in Search of Freedom
Many people dream of quitting their steady jobs and seeing the world. Jasmin and Antony Unger from Germany are now making this dream a reality. Together with their young daughter and their dog, they are on a very special journey: they are traveling by bicycle and a special caravan from Germany to Spain.
The couple wants to leave the classic "9-to-5 mentality" behind. This means they no longer want to work in a fixed office every day. Instead, they live as so-called "digital nomads." They use modern technology to work from anywhere while discovering new places. Their goal is to lead a freer life and spend more time together as a family.
However, the journey is also a major physical challenge. The family uses a special bicycle caravan in which they can sleep and live. Recently, they made a stopover in Havelberg, a town in Saxony-Anhalt. From there, they continue heading south. The route to Spain is thousands of kilometers long, but the family wants to enjoy nature at their own pace.
The Unger family's example illustrates a growing trend in Germany. More and more people are looking for alternatives to the traditional workday and are interested in mobile living. Although living in a confined space in a bicycle caravan means making sacrifices, the family gains a lot of flexibility as a result. How long their journey will take remains to be seen.
