Rheinmetall starts production of unmanned combat boats in Hamburg
The German defense group Rheinmetall is expanding its portfolio and is now beginning production of unmanned combat boats. The new manufacturing site for this modern technology is located in the Port of Hamburg.
The boats are designed to operate without a crew on board. Through the use of artificial intelligence and remote control, these vehicles can perform various tasks on the water. Experts see this as an important development for maritime security and modern defense technology.
With this step, the Düsseldorf-based company is strengthening its presence in the field of autonomous systems. The choice of Hamburg as a location underscores the importance of the northern German city as a hub for the maritime industry and technological innovation in Germany.
The production of the unmanned boats is part of a broader strategy in which Rheinmetall is increasingly focusing on automated solutions. The company is thus responding to the globally rising demand for efficient and secure systems for maritime use.
Although the project is still in its early stages, the development is being closely watched by the industry. In the future, the new combat boats could play an important role in monitoring coastal sections or in special security missions.
