Rheinmetall starts production of unmanned combat boats in Hamburg
The German defense group Rheinmetall is expanding its portfolio and is now beginning the production of unmanned combat boats. The manufacturing of this new technology is taking place directly at the Port of Hamburg, a central hub for the maritime industry in Germany.
The new boats are designed to operate without a crew on board. This technology makes it possible to carry out dangerous tasks at sea without endangering the lives of soldiers. The use of unmanned systems is becoming increasingly important in modern defense strategy worldwide.
With this step, the Düsseldorf-based company is strengthening its position in the field of maritime defense technology. The Hamburg location offers logistical advantages for the development and subsequent transport of the boats. In doing so, Rheinmetall is responding to the rising demand for automated defense solutions.
The production in Hamburg marks an important milestone for the company. Whether and when the first boats will officially be put into service is not yet known in detail. Experts are closely monitoring the development of these unmanned systems, as they could permanently change the way maritime security is ensured in the future.
