Digital help for skin diseases: Nia Health partners with AbbVie
The Berlin-based company Nia Health, a spin-off of the Charité, is entering into a new partnership with the pharmaceutical company AbbVie Germany. The goal of the collaboration is to further improve care for patients with atopic dermatitis through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The Nia Health app is already the most frequently used application for atopic dermatitis patients in Germany. It helps those affected to better understand their symptoms and digitally document the course of their disease. Through the cooperation with AbbVie, the technological foundation of the app is now set to be further expanded.
The application uses AI algorithms to identify individual triggers for skin flare-ups. Patients can enter information about their diet, stress levels, or environmental influences into the app. The software analyzes this data and provides users with personalized recommendations for everyday life.
By collaborating with a major partner like AbbVie, Nia Health hopes to reach even more patients and increase the medical quality of the app. The project demonstrates how digital health solutions are becoming increasingly important in Germany for supporting chronically ill people in their daily lives.
