Payment behavior in Germany: Companies are waiting longer and longer for their money
A recent study by Allianz Trade shows a worrying development for the German economy: customer payment behavior is increasingly deteriorating. More and more companies are having to wait significantly longer for their invoices to be settled than was the case some time ago.
These delays have a direct impact on day-to-day business. When invoices are not paid on time, the affected companies lack the necessary liquidity. This means they have less cash available to cover their own expenses or invest in new projects, for example.
For many companies, this makes financial planning more difficult. When payments arrive with unpredictable delays, investments cannot be planned reliably. This can slow down company growth and, in the worst case, even jeopardize the stability of individual businesses.
Experts are observing this development with concern, as poor payment behavior can act like a chain reaction. If a company does not receive money, it cannot pay its own bills on time either. The economy in Germany is thus facing a growing challenge that affects both small and large businesses alike.
