Your weather: DWD expects 30 degrees, only 20 from Wednesday

Summer is returning for the start of the week, but only for two days. The German Weather Service (DWD) expects temperatures of up to 27 degrees in the southwest on Monday, while it will remain at a maximum of 17 degrees in the northeast. Sun and clouds will alternate, and it will remain predominantly dry. Isolated showers are possible in the west and southwest, especially in mountainous regions.

Tuesday will be the pleasantest day of the week. Outside of the north, temperatures will reach more than 25 degrees in many places, the threshold at which meteorologists define a summer day. Up to 30 degrees are possible in the Upper Rhine region. The situation looks different in the northwest, however: clouds will thicken there and it will rain as a cold front makes its presence felt.

This cold front will subsequently spread across the entire country. On Wednesday, the rain area will move into the southeast, and showers and brief thunderstorms will be driven inland from the North Sea. Maximum temperatures will then level off at around 20 degrees. That is a drop of up to ten degrees within about 24 hours. According to the weather forecast center, the tendency for precipitation is more pronounced in the northwest than in the south or southeast.

For you, this means specifically: if you have outdoor appointments, are drying laundry outside, planning a move, or working in construction, the catering industry, or as a driver, Monday and Tuesday are the reliable days of this week. From Wednesday on, you should expect rain, wind, and significantly cooler temperatures. Those living in the northwest will notice the change as early as Tuesday afternoon, while those in the south and southeast will notice it later.

Concrete severe weather warnings for individual districts are always issued by the German Weather Service at short notice. It is worth taking a look at these on Tuesday evening, when the cold front reaches the center of the country.
