Long-standing pharmaceutical manufacturer R-Pharm to close Illertissen site
The pharmaceutical company R-Pharm Germany GmbH, based in Illertissen, has announced the end of its production. The facility, which looks back on a long history dating back to 1849, will therefore be closed permanently.
A total of 280 employees are directly affected by this decision. They will lose their jobs as a result of the plant closure. For many years, the company was an important part of the local economy in the Bavarian town of Illertissen.
The reasons for the closure lie in a strategic realignment of the company. Despite the site's long tradition, the operation could no longer be successfully continued under current economic conditions. The management has already informed the workforce about the planned step.
For the affected employees, this is difficult news. With the closure of R-Pharm, the region is losing a significant employer in the pharmaceutical industry. It remains to be seen how the search for new professional opportunities for the employees will progress in the coming months.
