Digital help for atopic dermatitis: Nia Health and AbbVie launch cooperation
The Berlin-based company Nia Health, a spin-off of the Charité, is entering into a new partnership with the pharmaceutical company AbbVie Germany. The goal of the collaboration is to further improve the care of people with atopic dermatitis through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The Nia Health app is already the most frequently used application for atopic dermatitis patients in Germany. It helps those affected to better understand their symptoms and document the course of their disease digitally. Through the cooperation with AbbVie, the technological basis of the app is now to be further expanded.
The application uses AI algorithms to identify individual triggers for skin flare-ups. Patients can enter information about their diet, stress levels, or the care products they use into the app. The software analyzes this data and provides users with personalized recommendations for their everyday life.
The collaboration between the start-up and the pharmaceutical company shows how important digital health solutions have become for the German healthcare system. Experts hope that such applications can increase the quality of life of chronically ill people in the long term by enabling better control over their own health.
