Woman (33) raped in broad daylight in Vienna
A 33-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted inside an apartment in Vienna-Meidling on Friday morning. Police arrested a 42-year-old man after the woman managed to escape and alert authorities.
According to the woman's account, she met the 42-year-old man over an outstanding financial dispute and initially hesitated before following him to his apartment. Once inside, the man allegedly threatened her verbally and forced her to have sexual intercourse. ([Heute][1])
The woman eventually managed to flee the apartment while carrying a kitchen knife. She waited outside for police to arrive and was later taken to hospital for medical care.
Officers from Polizeiinspektion Arndtstraße (Arndtstraße Police Station) found the suspect inside the apartment. He reportedly behaved extremely aggressively toward police, prompting the deployment of WEGA, Vienna's special police unit. The man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
The suspect allegedly continued behaving violently after his arrest, causing such a disturbance inside his cell that WEGA officers had to restrain him again before transferring him to a security cell.
The Landeskriminalamt Wien (Vienna State Criminal Police Office), Southern Branch, has taken over the investigation. The suspect's nationality has not been established, and authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the alleged assault while the investigation continues.
